The beneficiary of this event is H.I.S. K.I.D.S., Inc, which stands for Happiness Is Serving Kids In Distress Situations.

Jim and Connie Miles founded H.I.S.  K.I.D.S.  in 1984 following the death of their eleven-year-old daughter, Marcia to cancer.  As the Miles continued to be involved with other children with cancer and their families, they realized the great need for an organized outreach to these special children.

There is no other organization serving children with cancer and their families in the way that HIS KIDS does.  HIS KIDS programs and services reach 1000 children and families each year.  Programs include: 

• Support Groups/Activities
  • Teen Support Activities
  • Sibling Programs
  • Bereaved Family Support
• Summer Camps
• Fun Events, Trip and Retreats
• Hospital Clinic Visits/Activities
• Family Needs (e.g. food pantry, financial assistance)
• Memorials

 Every possible means to provide emotional, physical, and financial assistance to seriously ill children and their families is used.  All services and programs are provided at no charge without regard to race, creed, color or financial ability.  Many people, churches, school groups, business and corporations have assisted HIS KIDS through volunteering time and services, contributing money and needed items, offering prayers and encouragement.

 Reflecting on the past years brings some memories of tears and suffering, but more are the memories of joy and gratitude because they have been privileged to know it’s true…”Happiness Is Serving Kids In Distress Situations.”

The HIS KIDS FOOD PANTRY is in need due to the overwhelming distributions over the holiday season.  Throughout the year, HIS KIDS gets called upon from the Cardinal Glennon and St. Louis Children’s Hospitals to help families in need for food and supplies.  Therefore, we are in need through the entire year as well as the Holiday Season.  Please consider talking with your clubs, organizations and such to help us replenish our FOOD PANTRY.  Take a look around your house and see what most of us take for granted – you will be amazed!  See below for items you may want to bring to the festival as donations!

Kitchen Supplies:    Laundry detergent, Pledge, Toilet cleaner, Windex, Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Cleaning Supplies:  Dish detergent, Napkins, Paper towels, Paper plates, Plastic Cups, Plastic Utensils, Toothpicks, Ziplock bags

Food Supplies:
**Gift Certificates for Turkey/Ham, Apple sauce, Cake mixes, brownies, etc. - frostings, Canned fruits, Canned lunches, Canned nuts, Canned pastas, Canned vegetables, Cereal, cereal bars, etc., Chips, snacks, etc., Cooking Oil/Sprays, Dried fruits, Drink mixes, Flour, Hamburger helper or other ‘quick fix’ meals, Instant potatoes, Jelly, Ketchup, Macaroni and cheese, Marshmallows, Mustard, Pasta sauces, Peanut butter, Pickles, Pie fillings, Salad dressings, Seasonings – salt, pepper, garlic, etc.
